Liz was born September 11, 1931 in Santo Domingo,
Dominican Republic. He begins his studies of plastic arts in the
National School of Fine Arts, then directed by the sculptor Manolo
Pascual, from the year 1946 to 1949, later he took up Post-graduate
studies in Painting from the period of 1950 to 1953 in the same
institution with professor Jaime Colson. He has acted as professor of
the National School of Fine Arts being devoted to the education of
young artists for more than four decades, as well as Professor of the
Expression Class in the Department of Architecture of the Autonomous
University of Santo Domingo. From the decade of the seventies up to
this date he has carried out Four Individual Exhibitions; 1971-
Exhibition Hall of Proyecta Group. 1980- in the Gallery of Modern Art
(today Museum). 2000- Gallery of House Garden, and the most recent in
2001- in the Palace of Fine Arts as special guest of the XIV Biennial
of the Caribbean in Santo Domingo. Since the decade of the fifties to
this date he has participated in numerous Collectives, Biennials and
Art Competitions in Dominican Republic as well as abroad, from which we
can mention: 1952 - Latin American Art, University of Florida. He was
then chosen by the Office of Intellectual Cooperation of the
Pan-American Union of the OAS to participate next to Jaime Colson, Jose
Gausachs, Gilberto Hernandez Ortega and Noemi Mella. Florida, USA. 1964

Aires, where he participates together with 11 sculptors and 22 painters
of the Latin American plastic, such as Botero, Polosello, Trujillo, De
Szyszlo, Gonzales Goyri. 1981 - Contemporary Dominican Art , The Sign
Gallery New York, USA. 1994 - The Art of Today’s Caribbean, in Rasel,
Germany. For the Catalogue of which he wri tes “From the Caribbean One
of the Others” . His sculptural and pictorial work as well as his
drawings has merite Awards and Prizes all along his prolific artistic
career. The works of Master Domingo Liz has been commented in all the
art books of Dominican Republic, as well as in magazines about arts and

Felix Gontier, of the Proyecta Group, Sto. Dgo.
